Observation

The passage was interesting and offered a subject matter that was within the experience and grasp of the candidates. The information required for answering content questions correctly was very clear in the passage. There was a marked improvement in the responses of candidates. However, some of the candidates still demonstrated their lack of understanding of the passage as they gave their responses in lengthier sentences-even in paragraphs. Some copied verbatim from the passage to answer the questions. Questions 6a-d were answered correctly by the most candidates; however, Question 6e was poorly attempted by most candidates.  Some of them could not identify the grammatical name and grammatical function of the expression. The vocabulary test, Question 6(h) was poorly attempted by candidates. They failed to give the synonym of the words. Some who could identify it missed the spelling.
