Weakness and Remedies
The following weaknesses were noticed in the candidates’ responses.
Candidates
- could not draw and label specimen E (secchi disc);
- could not outline steps involved in the use of specimen E;
- wrote wrong spellings;
- did not understand the demands of some of the questions;
- could not state the advantages of using specimen F (Feed pellet) ;
- could not state the differences between specimens K and L (Gill net and Cast net);
- could not state the disadvantages of using specimen L.
The following remedies were however suggested:
- qualified teachers should teach the subject;- candidates should understand the demands of questions before responding to them;
- candidates should be exposed to practical aspect of the subject at early stage;
- teachers should cover the teaching syllabus before examinations begin;
- teachers should try as much as possible to provide live specimens for candidates.
