Candidates performed poorly in question 6 of which the ‘a’ part required the reasons why frozen chicken should be thoroughly thawed before cooking; the ‘b’ part was on the points to consider when buying a dressed chicken; the ‘c’ part was on the meaning of tripe and the‘d’ part required some examples of offal. This question was unpopular, as very few candidates attempted it and for those that did, it was obvious that they did not know the meaning of ‘thoroughly thawed’ ‘dressed chicken’ and ‘tripe’. However candidates’ performance in 6d was good as they were able to give various examples of offal.
