CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

The Chief Examiner reported that questions in the following areas were poorly attempted by majority of the candidates:
- Drawing graphs of systems of inequalities;
- Linear Transformation;
- Mechanics;
- Vectors;
- Application of the laws of logarithms.
4. SUGGESTED REMEDIES
(i) Candidates were encouraged to avail themselves of past WASSCE Further Mathematics questions while preparing for the examination.
(ii) Candidates were encouraged to study basic concepts and theorems effectively and how to apply them.
(iii) Candidates were encouraged to adequately cover the syllabus while preparing for the examination.
(iv) Candidates were encouraged to put in more effort in those areas where candidates’ performance have usually been very poor. |
