Candidates Weakness
The candidates’ weaknesses were on questions 1(a)(b) and 2 (b) and 4(a) Candidates seems to find analysis of some garment making technical terms difficult.
This manifested in their inability to draw the three diagrams sketches of question 1(a) I, II, III which was on shirt collar, Peter Pan collar and Kimono/ Magar /Polman colar. (b) Differentiate between kimono and Reglan sleeves in question no 1a and b. In question 2a and 4b, many of the students could not identify and write the correct answers/ names of the different parts labeled I, II, III, IV and V in the sketch diagram of a baby’s dress and in trouser block pattern, this contributed to the poor performance of the candidate.
To overcome these weaknesses:
- continuous emphasis on analytical level of educational objective, And thus teach students to make critical analysis of the garment making technical /practical terms.
- teachers should endeavour to attend workshops and Seminars on Garment Making.
- there should be uniformity in the scheme of work
