They were required to:
- Draw a toddler’s sleeveless dress with the following style features:
(i) Tucks on the shoulder
(ii) Yoke at the bodice
(iii) Facing on the armhole
(iv) Bow on the waistline
(v) Frills at the hemline
- (i) Sketch a trouser with an in-seam pocket.
(ii) State uses of the in-seam pocket sketched in 2 (b) (i).
(iii) Mention one method of neatening the hemline of the trouser sketched in 2 (b) (i).
Observation
In question 2 (a), many candidates were not able to draw a toddler’s dress with the style features and those that did scored low marks. The candidates were sketching adult dress rather than a toddler’s dress . The expected answer is drawn below:
In question 2 (b) (i), many candidates were able to sketch a trouser with an in-seam pocket and scored high mark. In question 2 (b) (ii) and (iii), candidates were able to answer the questions and scored high marks. This is one of the questions where the candidate’s strength was demonstrated.
