This was a compulsory question that all the candidates were expected to answer. Many of the candidates attempted the question and scored fairly good marks. Some of the candidates did not know that they were to reduce the map to 1/3rd of the original outline probably because of their poor knowledge of scale conversion. Some could not obtain correct measurements using their rulers, others simply used dot to represent an area coverage like Otta instead of using area represented as revealed in the map given to them. Many of the candidates who answered the question were able to state the functions of Otta settlement and stated two occupations of the inhabitants of Idiroko correctly.
A timely study of topics on map work and adequate practice will solve most of the problems. |
