_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Observation

This was another popular question and was attempted by almost all the candidates. The performance of the students who answered it was good as they really understood its demands. However, some candidates did not do well in the (b) part because they did not understand the demands of the question. The overall candidates’ performance was above average. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question:

(a) A constitution refers to a whole body of fundamental laws, customs, conventions, principles, rules and regulations according to which a particular country is governed.

(b) (i) a written constitution can be obtained and consulted as a single document;

(ii) it enhances references in cases of disputes;

(iii) both educated and laymen can reach it;

(iv) it removes uncertainty normally experienced with unwritten constitution;

(v) it can be amended or changed by following appropriate procedures.
