This was a popular question. The candidates performed averagely well in it. However, some candidates failed to satisfy the demands of the question; they mixed it up with another constitution and thus failed to get good mark. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question:
(i) The constitution encouraged regional division and ethnic nationalism. This discouraged politicians from cooperating for the success of the constitution;
(ii) the regional representatives were more loyal to their respective regions rather than the centre where they operated;
(iii) the absence of the prime minister’s office to coordinate the affairs of the country;
(iv) the nationalists disliked the veto power being used by the Governor;
(v) the constitution created ministerial positions without giving the appointed Ministers full control over their respective ministries;
(vi) the NCNC and AG sponsored motion for independence in 1953 weakened the parliament.
