Observation

This was a popular question and well attempted by most of the candidates. The performance of the candidates who answered it was good as they really understood its demands. However, those who failed were giving skimpy answers. The candidates were expected to give the following points as answers to the question.

            (i)         It controlled and ruled Northern Nigeria from 1959 – 1966
(ii)        The party produced the first prime of Nigeria.
(iii)       It contributed to the attainment of independence for the country.
(iv)       It represented the North in constitutional conferences held before                                       independence.
(v)        It helped to arouse the political consciousness of the northerners
(vi)       It fostered cooperation and understanding among the northerners.
(vii)      It won the majority seats in the 1959 and 1964 general elections in the Federal        
Legislature.
(viii)     It led the country into the attainment of a Republican status in 1963.
(ix)       It contributed to the socio-economic development of the North.
