This was a popular and direct question and many of the candidates avoided the question. Few of the candidates who attempted it understood the demands of the question and scored average marks. The candidates were expected to write the following points as answers to the question.

9. Provide electoral education
10. Screen potential political office holders
11. Provides an opportunity for change of political leadership
12. Registration of political parties
13. Prepare and revise the electoral register
14. It ensures the continuous registration of voters
15. It displays the voter’s register for the purposes of claims and objections
16. Collaborates with the law enforcement agencies to provide adequate protection for voters on the polling day
17. It appoints and trains electoral officials to supervise elections
18. The electoral management body should be neutral and non-partisan
19. Preparation of electoral timetable for the country
20. It demarcates electoral constituencies/boundaries
21. Provision of electoral materials/logistics eg. Ballot papers
