Observation
This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fair. In part (a)(i) they did fairly well, but some could not clearly define artificial respiration. In part (a)(ii) they were able to list symptoms of a victim of epileptic fits, but some candidates repeated the same point such as fainting, unconsciousness, deep sleep e.t.c. In part (b)(i)(ii)(ii) they did fairly well, but some could not correctly define the terms. In part (c) they did well in it.

7(a) (i) ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION
A method of assisting an individual who cannot breathe/stopped breathing to
resume breathing.
(ii) SYMPTOMS OF A VICTIM OF EPILEPTIC FITS
- convulsion
- unconsciousness/loss of awareness/deep sleep/fainting
- violently shaking of the body/head/neck and limbs
- foaming from the mouth
- body becomes stiff
- biting of the tongue during fits
7(b) EXPLANATION OF TERMS
i. FIRST AID
It is the temporary assistance/treatment; rendered to a victim of an emergency condition/injury; at the scene of the accident; before taking to the hospital.
ii. FIRST AID KIT
These are equipment/materials; used to render temporary assistance/treatment; to the victim of emergency conditions.
iii. EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
These are various injuries sustained by the victims of accidents; in homes, schools, industries, road and other places; that require quick attention.
