Weakness and Remedies
Candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to:
- spell scientific and technical words correctly;
- write in simple English Language;
- differentiate between consumer health and health consumer;
- state causes of shock;
- mention body classifications in humans;
- clearly state the health challenges that could affect a female of reproductive age as a result of alcohol consumption;
- mention signs and symptoms of shock.
The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:
- teachers should endeavour to use instructional materials especially when teaching aspects that have diagrams in health education;
- teachers should recommend textbooks that covers a wide range of the syllabus for students;
- students should be encouraged to cultivate habit of seriousness when in school;
- government should recruit more qualified health education teachers
- principals / school administrators should assign the teaching of health education to qualified graduates of health education.
- teachers should endeavour to get previous marking schemes in teaching the students what is expected of them during examination
- teachers and principals should participate in WASSCE coordination and marking exercise so as to update their knowledge on relevant areas.
