WEAKNESS/REMEDIES |
The candidates weaknesses include their inability to:
- cover the required syllabus
- express themselves correctly in English Language
- label diagrams correctly
- draw diagrams accurately
- understand the technical terms of the subject
- understand the demands of the question
- write correct spellings
- work independently without copying copied one another
- answer a question on a fresh page
- define food preservation
- explain methods of food preservation such as air drying, vacuum drying, pasteurization and salting.
- define vitamins
- mention deficiencies each caused by lack of vitamins A and D
- differentiate between a quack and quackery in health science
- state effects of promiscuity
- state differences between greenstick fracture and complicated fracture
- state steps involved in mouth to mouth artificial resuscitation
- explain terms as used in First Aid treatment, such as artificial respiration and improvised First Aid kits.
The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses.
- more work should be done by the English Language teacher in preparation for the examination
- students should read extensively to cover the syllabus
- teachers should emphasize subject terminologies that are very important to know during teaching
- teachers should engage students in drawing diagrams and also labeling of appropriate parts
- teachers should use past WAEC question papers to teach students for proper understanding of the subject and approach to use in answering questions.
