A fairly popular question but surprisingly, many candidates still performed poorly. Some gave factors that led to the rise or fall of Oyo Empire and thus scored low marks.
However, a good number of the candidates were able to do justice to the question and consequently scored high marks. They were able to explain the following points:
- the government was centralized and monarchical and was headed by the Alaafin;
- there was a council of king makers called the Oyomesi;
- there was also council of military commanders called the Eso, headed by the Are-Ona-Kakanfo;
- there was the religious cult of Ogboni which exercise great influence on all citizens including the Alaafin;
- Alaafin was represented in vassal states by Ilaris; etc.
