This was a very popular question; widely attempted with fair results. Most candidates correctly interpreted the question and provided good responses. However, some of them only identified the point without further explaining them. A few other candidates attempted the question but failed to take cognizance of the period of the question and this made them give answers out of context. In order to get good marks, candidates were expected to explain the following points and others:
- Christianity tried to put an end to ethnic differences in the society by preaching the
universal religion of brotherhood of man;
- through the Christian Missions, western education was promoted;
- promotion of legitimate trade;
