Observation

A. Here, the candidate was expected to write a letter to his/her friend who wants to end

his/her education and marry; advising him/her on the importance of being educated. The important points required include: the opportunity of getting a better job, knowing how to manage a home better, being able to converse well etc.

Most candidates that attempted this question made good efforts and were able to give relevant  points.

B. This is an essay on a proverb. Candidates were expected to explain a proverb that

says  ‘A stich in time saves nine’ with a story to illustrate it. Some candidates that attempted this question did not explain the proverb first but went ahead to illustrate with appropriate stories.

C.  This is a formal letter. Candidates were expected to write an application letter to a company for an employment. The following points were expected from the candidates among others: - who you are;
- the position you want;
-  your qualification;
-  your past job experiences and so on.

Many candidates did not go for this question but the few that attempted it, followed the right format.

D.  Candidates were required to write an argumentative essay that says ‘it is better to school in the urban schools than the rural schools’.
Most of the candidates that attempted this question did not balance their arguments. They failed to mention points like: students in the urban schools go to school earlier, are more serious with their studies, are smatter in dressing and more obedient to school rules.

E.  In this question, candidates were asked to write an essay on farming in their villages/towns. They were expected to mention: the name of their village, what farming is about, when it starts, how it is done, means of preservation of the produce, the difficulties farmers encounter and how to improve on them.
The candidates that attempted this question did not mention these points.
