CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
These include:
- inability to adhere to the rubrics;
- ignorance of the set textbooks;
- inability to attempt questions on literature parts;
- shallow knowledge on the Igbo customs questions;
- poor handwriting;
- inability to write the essay question on dialogue with the right format;
- poor knowledge of formal features of various forms of writing.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
- Authors should provide teachers’ guide to enable both teachers and students to understand their texts.
- Efforts should be made to circulate the list of recommended textbooks by the WAEC offices.
- Candidates should endeavour to procure and study the recommended textbooks/ set books.
- Candidates should strive to understand the demands of the questions before answering them.
