In this question, candidates were expected to write generally on the role of Zayd b. Thabit from the period when the Prophet started receiving revelation to the time of compilation and standardization.

Some of the candidates that attempted this question performed creditably well in their responses. Though some of them wrote on the biography of Zayd b. Thabit,  others completely deviated by writing on the life history of Caliph Abū Bakr b. ‘Affān.
