Observation

A good number of candidates attempted this question. However, many of them did not bring out those cultural issues that suppress women and relegate them to the background.

The following points should be well developed by the candidates:

• Kufi is a chauvinistic society and as such men are more superior to women.
• Widows are made to go through lots of difficulties, for instance, there are widows’ rites without any corresponding widowers’ rites.
• Men in Kufi do not tolerate women who challenge their authority and compete with them in influence and affluence.
• The practice of polygamy in Kufi.

Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
