This was a popular question. Many candidates were able to meet the demands of the question. Only a few candidates gave scanty answers to question.
Candidates were expected to mention the following points:
- Mary Dalton’s wealthy family background..
- She defies social boundaries and parental advice by dating Jan, a communist.
- She has deep feelings foe Blacks and identifies with them.
- She treats Bigger as she would treat her fellow white, this show of affection from a wealthy white lady leaves Bigger confused.
Candidates’ performance was good.
