This was not a popular question. The few who attempted this question did not understand the demand of the question. They did not seem to know the frustrations Bigger and his friends had, hence their inability to answer properly.

Candidates were expected to mention the following points:

• • Background of their frustration.
• • Frequenting the poolroom/South Side Boys’ Club.
• • Venting their resentment through conversation.
• • Visiting Ernie’s Kitchen Shack.
• • Their recourse to drinking alcohol and keeping girlfriends.
