Question 10
How does the poet present his experience as the blackman in Expelled”?
Observation
A good number of candidates attempted this question. However, many of them gave superficial answers.
Candidates were expected to discuss the following points:
The poet’s presentation of an image of a world before colonialism which brought great devastation.
Colonialism comes in and destroys the erstwhile peaceful co-existence.
After presenting a grim picture of life after colonialism, the poet enters into a state of personal lamentation.
The devastation brought in by colonialism is total and the poet’s own life becomes a veritable statement.
Candidates’ performance was poor.
