Discuss the significance of the alehouse in the play
Observation
A good number of candidates attempted this question. Although many of them were able to mention the music, dancing and drinking that go on at the alehouse, they failed to mention its significance in the play.
Candidates were expected to discuss the following points:
* Identification of the alehouse.
* The patrons of alehouse and its importance to Tony Lumpkin.
* Revelations about Tony in the alehouse.
* Opportunity for meeting Marlow and Hastings first and deceiving them.
* Contribution to the theme of the play.
Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
