Observation
Question 2(c) required students to state safety rules to be observed in order to protect listed equipment. Most candidates gave general safety rules. The expected response is:
Safety rules to protect:
(i) hand tools:
- use only tools which are in good condition;
- understand fully the function and limitation of a tool;
- use the right tool for the right operation.
(ii) machines:
- do not operate a machine that you have not been trained to operate;
- always check the machine to ensure that the attachments, guides and blades are properly in place and are in good order before operating the machine;
- operator must pass safety test.
