Candidates’ poor performance  was as a result of their poor knowledge of:   

•     melody writing; harmony and analysis of set work(s);
•     the history and literature of Western Music.

In order to overcome the above weaknesses, candidates are advised to prepare adequately for the examinations by

• practising melody writing and learning the rudiments of harmony;
•   attending tutorials on music analysis;
•   studying the history and literature of Western Music
