(a) State two uses each of the following office machines;
(i) typewriter;
(ii) computer
(iii) calculating machine;
(iv) photocopier;
(v) addressing machine.
(b) State five ways of taking care of office machines.
Observation
Most candidates attempted the question and did very well. Some expected responses from candidates are;
(a) (i) Typewriter can be used for: - typing document; - addressing envelopes.
(ii) Computer can be used for: - storing information; - typesetting documents.
(iii) Calculating machine can be used for: - adding figures; - storing information.
(iv) Photocopier can be used for: : - producing exact copy of a document; - duplicating large copies of document.
(v) Addressing machine can be used for: : - addressing envelopes; - printing letter-head.
(b) Ways office machines can be taken care of:
(i) protect the machines by always covering them when not in use;
(ii) switch off all electrically operated machine when not in use;
(iii) avoid water spillage into machines;
(iv) always keep the machines clean;
(v) service the machines regularly;
(vi) ensure that well-trained and experience technicians are engage to service or repair faulty machines;
(vii) manufacturer’s instructions should always be followed in handling/ operating machines etc.
