Question 2:
Write notes on Johnson Donatus Aihumekeokhai Ojeikere with particular reference to:
- Year of birth;
- place of birth;
- nationality;
- any four of his training as a photographer;
- any two contributions to the development of photography.
The question required the candidates to explain depth of field, enlargement and resolution and list the elements of composition in photography. Only few candidates attempted the question and scored low marks. The candidate’s performance was poor. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question:

- Nigerian.
(d) Training as a photographer
- At age 20, he pursued photography with a friend who taught him fundamentals of photography with the Brownie D camera without flash in 1950.
- Served as darkroom assistant with the Ministry of Information, Ibadan, in 1954.
- He was a studio photographer at Television house, Ibadan – 1961.
- Worked at West African Publicity in Lagos - 1963.
- He worked at the Nigerian Arts Council - 1967.
- Started documentation of Nigerian hair styles in 1968.
(e) Contributions to the development of photography
- Documented African Women hairstyles with over one thousand (1000) images.
- Published a book of photographs titled, Scalo 2000, edited by Andre Magnin.
- He participated in various solo/group photo exhibitions nationally and internationally.
