This question was popular and the candidates’ performance was fair.
In part (a)(i), however, some candidates could not state clearly what a relay race is. In part (b)(i) candidates could not state instances when an athlete could be disqualified in a 100m race.
The expected answers were as follows:
(a)(i) A relay race
- is a race involving a team of four athletes/runners
- each athlete/runner covers a specific distance on the track and with change
of baton.
(b)(i) Instances an athlete can be disqualified in 100m races
- Reporting late to the starting point
- Running in another athlete’s lane
- Beating the gun after a warning
- competing without being registered
- Using wrong number/vest.
