Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was fair.
In part (a) few candidates wrote out of context such as body of human being wrapped with white cloth as what is posture?  In part (a)(ii) few candidates wrote out of context by mentioning paraplegia/lameness, visual impairment, blindness, dumbness, deafness and mental retardation.  In part (b) few candidate that missed the answers wrote recreation is done in beer parlour while competitive sport is done in the stadium, recreation means to enjoy by relaxing with girl while competitive sport goes on the school.

The expected answers were as follows:

(a)(i)    Posture

  • The way one carries oneself/body carriage while standing, sitting, lying or running/any position                                               
  • Postural defects:
  • kyphosis/hunch back/round shoulder
  • lordosis/hollow back
  • scoliosis
  • flat foot
  • valgus knee/knocked knees
  • bow leg                                                          
  • Differences between recreational activity and competitive Sport

-           Recreational activity is non survival while competitive sport is a means of livelihood/money making;

  • Recreational activity is for fun while the aim of competitive sport is to win for fame/power/popularity;
  • recreational activity is performed at leisure while competitive sport is planned/organized;
  • no strict rules in recreational activity observed while strict rules are observed in competitive sport;
  • recreational activity is performed at an individual’s pace while competitive sport is keenly contested;
  • recreational activity does not emphasize skill acquisition while competitive sport does.
