Observation
This question was well attended by the candidates and their performance was fair.
In part (a), majority of the candidates were able to mention rules in relay races.
In part (b), majority of the candidates could not correctly state four phases in a hurdle race.

1(a) Phases in a hurdle race
- the start
- the approach run
- the take - off
- the flight/clearance
- the landing
- the finish
(b) Rules in Relay races
-it must be run by a team of four runners/be in team colours
- each runner runs a specified distance
- the relay baton is changed over within a specified area/take over zone
- the baton is handed over, not thrown
- the athlete who drops the baton must pick it up
- the race must be completed with the baton in hand/must not be thrown before or after crossing finishing line
- no runner must run more than one distance leg
- the takeover of baton could be visual or non-visual
- knocking over, tripping or pushing down another runner is not allowed
