CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES
- Failure to determine components of the velocity of a projectile at its maximum height.
- Difficulty in identifying parts of a cathode ray tube.
- Vague knowledge about rockets.
- Vague knowledge in topics like atomic structure, waves quantum theory and radioactivity.
- Inability to o correctly explain the term net force
o correctly state the principle of conservation of linear momentum as well as give relevant examples.
o recognize the relationship between impulse and change of momentum.
Based on the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended as follows:
- Effective coverage of the syllabus by the teacher;
- Candidates should study and not read Physics;
- Qualified and experienced teachers should be posted to schools;
- Government should equip school laboratories with apparatus for effective learning.
