Weakness & Remedies
The following were observed as the candidates’ weaknesses.
- Poor problem-solving skills especially when it is numerical;
- Inability to interpret and plot graph correctly;
- Poor choice of scales for graph;
- Inadequate knowledge about thermionic emission, elasticity (young modulus), dimension analysis, pn-junction (V-I characteristics, forward and reverse biasing), pressure in fluids, impulse as related to change in momentum.
- Inability to correctly draw the magnetic field pattern around a bar magnet;
- Incorrect definition of neutral points, load and velocity ratio.
The following are the suggested remedies:
- Regular practice on problem solving;
- Attention to correctness of definition;
- Learn to plot graphs correctly;
- Pay attention to topics like the thermionic emission, waves, heat transfer, radioactivity and elasticity.
