GENERAL COMMENTS ON THE PAPER AS A WHOLE
The paper was of comparable standard with those of previous years. The
questions were standard, straight forward, falls within the content of the syllabus
and within the candidates reach.
The rubric to the marking scheme were clear and unambiguous. The marking
scheme is clear and comprehensive. Time allocated was quite adequate. The
paper tested the ability of the candidates to:
- take/read measurements;
- record data in composite form;
- manipulate/analyse data;
- plot graphs;
- interpret data/make deductions;
- understand the theories behind the experiments.
Candidates’ population of 132,009 with a raw mean score of 14 and a standard
deviation of 06.08 showed that their performance was a little better than those of
November/December 2012 WASSCE where the candidature of 167,986 had a
raw mean score of 13 and a standard deviation of 05.74.
