Identify the handling equipment that would be used for the movement and storage of the following in a warehouse and production plant:
- 50 crates placed on wooden pallet;
- 20 ft. container;
- 20 ft. container;
- Empty bottles for filling in brewing process;
- Large volume of raw materials from warehouse to the factory.
- Find the economic order quantity where the annual demand is 30,000 units, the ordering cost is N50 per order, the units cost N10 and it is estimated that carrying cost are 20% per annum.
Observation
(a) Few candidates attempted this question and good number of them failed. They could not identify the equipment properly. Where they were expected to write forklift, they wrote crane and pallet where truck is expected to be identified.
(b) The few candidates who attempted this question performed very well.
