(a). What is idea generation?

(b). State four characteristics of a good store environment.

 

Observation

 

 

   Many candidates attempted this question and they performed averagely. However, their weakness was majorly on incomplete sentences and wrong spellings.

The responses expected from candidates are:

3(a).      Idea generation: Idea generation is a process of gathering different ideas from various sources that are set for preliminary evaluation and testing. It is a process of originating ideas for new business.

(b)        Characteristics of a good store environment:
            i.          The store environment should be clean at all times.
ii.         The store environment should have adequate safety signs and precautions.
iii.        The store environment should be conducive to employees and customers.
iv.        Store items should be properly arranged to prevent injuries and damages.
v.         The layout and design of the store should be adequate to allow for free movement of staff and equipment.
vi         The store should have adequate safety wears and apparatus.
vii.       The store should be well ventilated.                           
viii.      The store should possess all the necessary tools and equipment.
ix.        The store should be properly lit to ensure adequate illumination.
x.         The store environment should be properly secured for the safety of goods and staff.
xi.        A good store environment should have adequate space for loading and unloading of goods.                                                                           

 

(c)                    Importance of inventory control to an organization:
i.          It ensures that items in the store are kept at optimum level that is there would be no over stocking and under stocking of goods.
ii.         It ensures that there is no stock-out.
iii.        It ensures that items in the store are in good condition over their shelf life.
iv.        It assists organization in securing the goods that are in custody of storekeepers.
v.         It assists the organization in managing its costs of operation.
vi.        It assists in ensuring continuity of production.
vii.       It assists in monitoring the quantity and value of items in the store.
viii.      It helps to avoid duplication in ordering of goods.
ix.        It assists in checking the activities of the storekeeper to reduce fraud.
