Make a detailed drawing of a child’s tricycle showing the views of its front and one side.
Observation
Candidates performance in this question was poor. They were expected to respond to the question thus:
1. DRAWING QUALITY (40 marks)
Preamble:
In drawing quality, accurate representation of composed objects, correct perspective and good line quality should be observed.
Items:
(a) Drawing of a child’s tricycle.
(b) Drawing of the front view of a child’s tricycle.
(c) Drawing of the side view of a child’s tricycle.
2. TONE/COLOUR
(a) Effective use of tone to depict the real form of the object.
(b) Ability to indicate the source of light on the object.
(c) Ability to use tone to show contrast on the object and create
a feeling of balance in the composition.
3. COMPOSITION
(a) Centrality of the object on the paper and proper use of working space i.e. drawing not too small or too big for the available space).
(b) Balanced relationship of parts of the object.
(c) Indication of baseline.
4. ORIGINALITY
(a) Showing effective drawing skill and personalized style.
(b) Showing effective use of art materials (colour, pencil, pen and ink).
