Observation

The question attracted a handful of candidates with little success. Candidates who attempted answering the question had ineffective compositions, weak figure representation/proportion, perspective and background. Performance was poor. The candidates were expected to answer in the following way:
           
A.        DRAWING               

(i)        Effective representation of the farmer, using montage technique.                                    
(ii)       Appropriate use of proportions and perspective in a suitable background.                      
         
B.        COMPOSITION
           
(i)        Skillful arrangement of all elements in the composition.                                      

(ii)       Representation of appropriate setting.                                                                    

(iii)      Judicious use of space (at least three-quarter of available space).                            

                                                                                                                     
C.        COLOUR                  

(i)        Choice of colours that contrast and harmonize.                                                      

(ii)       Effective mixture, application and distribution of colours.                                   

(iii)      Ability to show tones and direction of lights on all the objects.                              

D.        INTERPRETATION           

(i)        Correct and pleasing representation of the theme.                                                 

E.        ORIGINALITY                   

(i)        Personalized style in the composition and overall effect.
