Observation
The question was attempted by few of the candidates. The performance was poor. The following points were expected from the candidates’ to obtain the maximum marks:
1. DRAWING QUALITY
(a) Accurate drawing of a young male model dressed in T-shirt and shorts.
(b) Accurate drawing of the model sitting on an armless plastic chair with
napkin spread across his thighs.
(c) Accurate drawing of the model peeling orange with a knife.
(d) Accurate drawing of the orange peels collected on the napkin.
2. TONE/COLOUR
(a) Effective shading to depict the male model.
(b) Accurate indication of the source of light in the composition.
(c) Ability to create the correct feeling in the composition.
3. COMPOSITION
(a) Centrality/balance of the composition on the paper.
(b) Accurate proportion of the model in the composition.
(c) Use of paper to advantage (at least ¾ of the paper).
(d) Indication of background and baseline.
4. ORIGINALITY
(a) Showing effective personalised style of work.
(b) Showing effective use of art materials (colour, pencil, pen, charcoal and ink).
