Observation

Relief sculpture another unique aspect of art which brings out the creative prowess of any candidate. The question was answered by few candidates. The candidates treated the question creatively well to the best of their knowledge. They were expected to respond to the question thus:

1.         DESIGN:                              

(i)         Ability to show form, shape and proportion of a palm wine tapper.                     
(ii)        Appropriate representation of the palm wine tapper.                                               

2.         EXECUTION/PROFICIENCY:    

(i)         Proper handling of materials and tools to produce a relief sculpture.                   

(ii)        Adherence to the medium (Terracotta) and size specification (45cm by 30cm).  

3.         COLOUR/FORM:               

(i)         Effective finishing to produce terracotta colouring.                                               
           
4.         SUITABILITY:                   

(i)         Relevance of the composition to the theme: Palm wine tapper.      

5.         ORIGINALITY:                  

(i)         Uniqueness in style of production.                                                                         

6.         NOTES AND WORKING DRAWINGS:    
(i)         Produce comprehensive notes on the job done.                                                                    
(ii)        Working drawings in stages of production.
