Observation

(a) This is a narrative essay on: The beauty contest that took place in candidates’ schools. The narration of the beauty contest was fairly handled by the candidates who attempted it; many of them did not narrate the event chronologically.

(b) This is a descriptive essay on: My School. Most candidates who attempted this question tackled it well. They wrote extensively on their school compound, number of teachers and students in the school and not leaving out the subjects offered in the school.

(d) An expository essay on: The coconut tree. This question was fairly attempted by the candidates, most of the candidates who attempted this question limited themselves to one or two uses of the coconut tree. They failed to mention its health benefits, economic benefits, maintenance of the tree and where it is mostly found.

(e)  Argumentative essay on: Money guarantees enjoyment in life. The candidates were expected to write convincingly on the importance of money or otherwise. The essay was scanty as most of the candidates could not balance both sides of the argument.

(ẹ)  An informal letter to the parents highlighting reasons for students’ failure. The candidates demonstrated a good understanding of the organisation of the letter.
