These questions which were on literary appreciation of poetical excerpts of some prescribed
Arabic poets of different periods, were answered by many candidates. Candidates with good
background in Arabic performed creditably well by giving a brief biography of the poets
concerned and circumstances which surrounded the composition of the given poetical lines.
Thereafter, they did critical and literary analyses of the excerpts.
