The identified weaknesses  of some the candidates include:
                        
                          -  Poor spelling of labels and technical terms  e.g. antener instead of antenna, mytosis for mitosis, hing limb instead of hind  limb etc;
- inability to  identify some of the  tested organisms;
- poor  understanding of the demands of the questions;
- inability to  properly express themselves in English language;
- shallow knowledge  of some of the tested concepts e.g. genetics.
 
                        4.     SUGGESTED  REMEDIES
                                 The following remedies were proffered  to overcome these weaknesses.
                                  Teachers should:
                        
                          -  Endeavour   to cover the syllabus before the onset of the terminal examinations  making sure that topics like genetics and evolution are taught.
- Organise spelling  drills to ensure that students grasp the spellings of  biological terms.
-   Students:  
-  Should read their notes, textbooks and  prepare adequately for the examinations.
