(b)   Describe any four measures the government of your country can adopt to encourage production for export.

observation

The question was extensively avoided by most candidates.  The very few that attempted it defined the concept with various brands of guesses though some of the definitions moved very close to the real answer while some definitions were off the point.

Low marks were scored in the (b) part of the question as the few points mentioned were defective and not thoroughly explained.  The overall candidates’ performance in the question was below average.  In order to score high marks in the question, candidates were required to present their answers as follows:

(a)      Export promotion is a deliberate government policy undertaken to encourage the production of commodities for export.

(b)     -        liberalizing the importation of raw materials for export
based industries through exemption from payment of import duties;
         -        granting tax concessions to export oriented industries;
          -        simplifying and liberalizing the export licencing procedure
        - reducing export duty;
