question 3

(a) What is Labour?

(b) Outline any four factors that can influence the efficiency of labour in the agricultural sector of your country

observation

This was another very popular question among the candidates.  They came out with a very good definition i.e. human effort, both physical and mental, made in production.  They were rewarded accordingly.

          However, many of them did not do well in (b) part of the question.  Most of the candidates applied general principles of labour to answer the question instead of enumerating points which were peculiar to agricultural sector as demanded by the question.

          The overall candidates’ performance in the question was average.  In order to score good marks in the (b) part, candidates  were expected to outline some of the following points:

          -        education and training of workers in the agricultural sector;
          -        good welfare services for workers;
          -        favourable working condition for workers;
         -         availability of other factors of production like tools and machines, etc.
