The following weaknesses were demonstrated by the candidates as evidenced in their answers

Short Answers

Many of the candidates found it difficult to explain their points in detail; they only gave skimpy answers to the questions which could not earn them good marks. History questions require detailed and comprehensive answers so as to be able to do justice to the questions and to score good marks.

Spelling Error

Spelling error is a common mistake often make by candidates due to poorreading habit. This affected the performance of candidates because it rendered their work meaningless and difficult for the examiners to
comprehend

Poor Articulation of Points

Some of the candidates who failed to earn good marks in their work were discovered to have given irrelevant and disjointed answers to the questions. They also found it difficult to express their points convincingly in basic
           English language.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES:

  • Candidates should try as much as possible to expatiate on their points rather than giving skimpy answers which could not earn them good marks.
  • Candidates should cultivate reading habit so as to improve on their English language usage.
  • There is a need for candidates to read relevant History textbooks in order to acquaint themselves with accurate historical facts.
  • Candidates should strive to improve on their handwriting and spelling of words.
