Examine the contribution of Richard Rich to the development of the plot.

Observation

The following are expected to be developed by the candidates:

(a) Richard Rich is a friend to Thomas More, he is a law graduate of Cambridge.

(b) Rich is from a poor background, his hunger for material things made him to be dishonest, disloyal and to betray More his benefactor.
(c) Without Rich’s Contribution, it would have been impossible to convict More.
(d) Richard Rich serves as foil to More’s character, and his evidence against More leads to More’s condemnation.

This question was avoided by candidates, few candidates that answered it gave a character sketch of Richard Rich without mentioning his contributions to the development of the plot.
