Candidates’ Weaknesses

The sections on poetry were not adequately attempted by many candidates and those who made the attempt performed poorly.

There was no indication that many candidates prepared for the examination as they depicted hazy knowledge of the set texts.

Suggested Remedies

(1)Efforts should be intensified to provide prescribed textbooks in schools and candidates should be encouraged to study them under the guidance of competent teachers.

(2)Qualified teachers should be employed to teach Literature-In-English and more teachers should be trained in the teaching of Literature through seminars and workshops.
