Silas Marner lives an isolated life in Raveloe and this is the life he could have
lived until his death, if not for the loss of his gold coins. After the loss and its
report at the Rainbow Inn people start to visit him among whom are Dolly
Winthrop and Mr. Macey.
Dolly helps in influencing Silas’ life, she prevails upon him to be attending
church once again. She helps in the upbringing of Eppie, keeping him company
and eventually making him regain his faith in God and man.
