The demands of the questions were quite clear but most of the candidates left the requirement of the questions to text narration.

Candidates showed very poor command of English, such flaws spoilt the beauty of the essays against the facts presented, thus such candidates ended with low marks.

Suggested Remedies

Reading culture should be encouraged at early stage in school.

• Students should be discouraged from using the abridged texts as replacement of original study texts. 
• Provision of textbooks through government subsidy. 
• Schools should create library for the use of students

Recycling of textbooks used by former students and sold at reduced rates to the junior students could be explored.
